Stokes Skiers perform on the first day of the Moomba Masters
Stokes Skiers took up the challenge on the Yarra River in Melbourne Australia yesterday. The Moomba Masters, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world of water-skiing features the very best slalom, trick, and jump skiers.
Jacinta Carrol, Women’s World Champion and World Record holder started of her weekend with a stunning 54.3m leap. She is so at home in front of her home crowd and clearly enjoyed a great start to the tournament.
Rodrigo Miranda, got a feel for the site with a nice 190ft leap. Rodrigo attended all of the events last year and put in some amazing performances to finish the year in the 5 in the World. 190 is a nice 1st round score, and one to push on from now on. I am sure Mirandas Ski School would be making a lot of noise which will only drive Rodrigo on further
Taylor Garcia, fresh from winning the Junior Moomba slalom title the day before posted a solid 60.4m leap to put himself into the top 5 jumpers. Taylor, one of the youngest jumpers in the field and one of the most talented skiers out there was not intimidated at all. Manning up, and doing the business to fly through to the next round.
Josh Briant also came through well posting a 54.3m leap. Taking time away from his studies, Josh will be looking to progress even further in the next round. Josh will also be looking to challenge the trick podium this weekend after some scintillating performances last year. A true all rounder look for Josh to be up there in tricks and jump on Sunday.
Jimin Jeong, from South korea, skiing in his 2nd Moomba Masters was ecstatic t making it through to the next round. Things didn’t go so well last year with Jimin taking a OTF in the forst round. This year Jimin has been focused and training hard to hit his goals, so far its going great for him
