Stokes Skiers stack the podium at Malibu Open
Stokes skiers broke out at the Malibu open, taking some 1sts, 2nds and 3rds to dominate.
In the open ladies division, Jacinta Carrol continued in her rich vein of form, popping leaps out over 180ft to plant herself firmly on top of the podium. Jacinta also received the Skier of the Year award at the Waterski Magazine awards presentation. We are delighted for Jacinta after some phenomenal jumping this season.
June Fladborg, competing in her first pro event for 3 years just missed the cut by 1ft posting a 159ft leap. Good to see june back on the water, the confidence returning with every event she does.
In the open mens, Tom Asher came close to taking his first pro win with a 215ft leap in the finals. Tom finished 2nd to improve upon his 3rd place at the US Masters. Scot Ellis placed 3rd with some good solid jumping. Bojan Schipner, competing in his first ever night jump performed well. Bojan, who came out of qualifying in 2nd place with 218ft gained some much needed night time experience. Next time Bojan will be ready to boost some jumps challenging the lead
Will Asher, fresh off winning the US Masters placed 2nd after a strong performance on the water. Will fought to the end in the head to head dual coming close to back to back wins.
In the Junior division, Taylor Garcia, posted a real smooth 172ft leap. Taylor has been steadily building his jumping up and is looking solid, safe, and booting big jumps. Josh Briant, unfortunately out due to an ankle injury, which is healing well received the best junior skier of the year award from Waterski Mag. Josh has been consistent all year in all 3 events. We can’t wait to see josh back on the water ripping it up.
