Maj Jepsen recovering after tearing her ACL and Meniscus
This season has been exciting and I’ve been very proud to repressend Stokes at all the pro – events around the world.
I’ve always been very serious about my skiing and will keep doing everything I can to improve. I live in a northern country with low temperatures, a lot of wind and rain. In order to keep up with my strong competitors i ”escape” to Florida every spring and fall, and take advantage of the perfect conditions. I feel very lucky to be able to do what I love every day!
The first tournaments this season was in Australia in March, we had 3 in a row. I made it to the finals in all 3, I ended up 6th at Moomba Masters, 2nd at the World Cup in Mandurah and 4th at Perth Night Jump.
The prestigues US Masters was again a great experience. The level was higher then ever this year, it took more than 52 meters to make the cut to the finals and I ended up 5th, first one out.
I always aim to get a podium finish and was finally on a very promissing track at the past tournament Malibu Open in downtown Milwaukee, USA. In the semifinals I jumped 51,2 meters but got super unlucky and twisted my right knee in the landing. I was close to ride away from the jump but had to let go of the handle in the end. An MRI showed a torn ACL and damaged meniscus.
That message was sad to get, but it’s an injury a lot of skiers have had and we are all aware of the risk. It’ll take about 1 year to get back on track. It is a long time but worse things could have happened. I’ll be very serious with my rehab and make sure I get back even stronger. I had surgery already and now I can only get better:)
The night before I injured my knee at Malibu Open I was nominated in the category “Female jumper of the year” at The Waterski Avards. Natallia Berdnikava got the title but I was happy to be mentioned and at least it was a cool way to “finish” off my 2012 season
